Civil Rights Intern, National Center for Civil and Human Rights
I completed an intensive program focused on understanding the systemic challenges facing Atlanta’s most vulnerable populations, deepening my practical understanding of service and civic responsibility.
Community Immersion and Research: I spent time traveling to and collaborating with leading community organizations, including Concrete Jungle, ATL Mission, ICNA Relief, Ben Massell Dental Clinic, and City of Refuge. My objective was to learn first-hand about their operations, specific services, and diverse methods for assisting the community and the homeless population in Atlanta.
Key Insight & Analysis: This experience taught me that successful aid requires more than just physical support. I learned that there are many different ways we can help create an easier transition for people who lack basic facilities, and crucially, that mental care is just as important as physical health.
